LAMIG is a growing community of Latin American scientists dedicated to advancing mucosal immunology, united by a shared commitment to scientific excellence and regional collaboration.
From lung and gut to skin and genitourinary tract — mucosal immunity across all organs.
Rooted in Latin America, connected to major researchers worldwide.
Built by students, for students— expanding through a shared purpose of advancing mucosal immunology research.
LAMIG is driven by five interconnected goals designed to strengthen mucosal immunology research and training across Latin America.
Organize international Advanced Courses (ACMI) and Symposia (LSMI) for students and researchers at all levels.
Promote research collaborations and build a dedicated network for joint grant applications.
Foster PhD and postdoc exchanges for hands-on training in specialized laboratory techniques.
Actively seek funding opportunities to support research and teaching activities across the network.
Deliver an annual Online Mucosal Immunology Course and a monthly Online Journal Club.
LAMIG organizes two flagship educational programs that bring together students, postdocs, and senior scientists from across the region and beyond.
Intensive, hands-on training programs offering both foundational and advanced content in mucosal immunology techniques and concepts.
High-impact scientific meetings featuring keynote speakers, oral presentations, and poster sessions that showcase cutting-edge regional research.
At present many of LAMIG's activities are mainly coordinated by PhD and Master students from Latin America, whom with renewed energy, dedication, and purpose are strengthening the community and expanding LAMIGs impact
The Education Committee is the backbone of LAMIG's training mission. It organizes ACMI courses, LSMI symposia, and our monthly Online Journal Club. The committee also promotes grant writing workshops, scholarships, and the sharing of laboratory techniques and mentorship resources across the network.
The Communication Committee ensures LAMIG's work reaches the right audiences. It manages LAMIGs website, maintains an active presence on X, Instagram and Linkedin and is working on the creation of our newsletter: Across the barrier
This commission organizes short-term exchanges for PhD students and postdocs, enabling them to learn specialized techniques in partner laboratories across the network. The commission also identifies funding sources to support these mobility activities and facilitates the sharing of protocols and facilities.
The Membership and Recruitment Committee focuses on expanding LAMIG's reach. Members are encouraged to nominate colleagues who may benefit from joining. All new members are proposed and formally accepted at the annual assembly, ensuring a transparent and community-driven process.
